Facial Hirsutism
Our teams are professionally trained to provide you with the highest standard of treatments and services, so every time you visit, you leave with a positive experience.
Excessive hair growth, known as hirsutism, occurs when women experience an increase in or sensitivity to androgens (male hormones). This can cause thick, dark hair to appear in areas such as the face, chest, or back.
One of the most common causes is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), where the ovaries produce higher levels of androgens. However, other medical conditions or medications can also contribute.
If you are an adult woman diagnosed with facial hirsutism by your GP, our pharmacist may be able to help. Treatment options, including eflornithine cream, can be discussed if suitable and not contraindicated.
For treatment or advice on managing hirsutism, please contact your local Allied Pharmacy. You can find your nearest branch here
